The Code of Conduct Policy of the New York Aging Life Care Association (NYALCA) serves as a guide outlining standards and expectations for conduct at meetings organized by the organization. This policy is designed to uphold integrity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence.

Event Code of Conduct:

At the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), we are dedicated to fostering a productive and inclusive environment at all our events. We believe in upholding  high standards of professionalism and respect for all attendees regardless of role: member, non-member, presenter, sponsor, etc. To ensure that everyone feels welcome and valued, we have established the following code of conduct expectations:

  1. Professional Conduct: Attendees are expected to always conduct themselves in a professional manner. This includes treating others (all event participants, both ALCA Members and Non-Members, event speakers, volunteers, and staff members) with courtesy, respect, and consideration, regardless of differences in background, opinion, professional and personal experience, or perspective.
  2. Attendee Decorum: We expect all attendees to exercise self-control and moderation in their behavior. This includes refraining from disruptive or aggressive conduct that may detract from the event experience of others.
  3. Harassment-Free Environment: ALCA prohibits harassment of any kind, including but not limited to sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying, and intimidation.
  4. Responsible Alcohol Consumption: While alcoholic beverages may be available at certain events, attendees are expected to consume alcohol responsibly. Excessive intoxication that disrupts the event or impairs one’s ability to interact respectfully with others is not allowed.
  5. Reporting Incidents: Any attendee who experiences or witnesses behavior that violates this code of conduct is encouraged to report it immediately to event staff or organizers. Reports will be handled promptly and confidentially (to the extent practical), and appropriate action will be taken to address the situation.

Violations of this code of conduct may result in being asked to leave an event, prohibition from attending future events, and forfeiture of continuing education units (CEUs) earned at the event. Improper conduct may also be a basis for suspension or termination of ALCA membership.

By participating in ALCA events, attendees acknowledge their commitment to upholding these principles and contributing to a positive and inclusive event environment for all.

Any person who has been the victim of an assault or other criminal behavior, or who believes their physical safety is at risk, should immediately call 911 and/or contact venue security.

Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the integrity of our professional community.

Please Note: This Code of Conduct Policy is a voluntary expression of the views and intentions of ALCA with respect to harassment and other objectionable behavior. ALCA assumes no liability or responsibility for the actions of any participant. This Code of Conduct Policy does not create or acknowledge any legal obligations of ALCA.
